It all started with eighth graders. The power of youth has never been so influential. These youth dreamed and designed a way to instill leadership into the lives of inner city and underprivileged children. When given the chance to be a part of an idea so much bigger than themselves, these eighth graders understood the importance of removing the distractions of the city and inviting children into a camp environment. Eighth graders started what today is known as “Cabins4Kids.”

Counselors are the heart behind the program. The positive role models enhance and instruct campers, ensuring a long-lasting and meaningful relationship is created. Every counselor has been in the camper’s shoes. Every counselor can tell their campers the impact that their own counselors had on them.

The transition of camper to counselor comes through the Leadership 101 program, created by the founders of “Cabins4Kids.” Leadership is kinesthetic; the youth learn by doing.

This program has created an answer to a question dreaded by many kids, a question always discussed on the first day of school. Every teacher invites students to share stories of adventures they had over the summer, but what about students who had no adventures? What about students who cannot afford adventures? Cabins4Kids provides these students with the opportunity to tell a story.
