Josephinum Academy is a 120 year-old Catholic, all-girl college-preparatory high school in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The majority of our students come from families who live at or below the poverty line, as 77% of our students qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program.  Josephinum Academy, founded in 1890 by the Sisters of Christian Charity, has a long and demonstrated tradition of responding to the educational needs of the community. Josephinum continues this tradition by committing itself to extending the opportunity for a rigorous education to an increasing number of deserving young women in Chicago - regardless of their ability to pay tuition.  As the 22nd full member in the country's Sacred Heart Network of Schools, Josephinum Academy is the only Sacred Heart School in the nation that serves a majority population of young women and their families who might not otherwise be able to afford a Catholic school education.
