Open Door Sports Inc.(ODS) grew out of a desire to provide high quality sports programming to ALL kids regardless of physical ability, financial need or location. Our desire is personal: Co-Founder and Executive Director Sarah Albus is the mother of four teenaged daughters, one of which has cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability. She has worked throughout Hannah's life to fulfill her wish to "be on a team like my sisters" and in navigating this dilemma saw a vacancy that needed to be filled, both in the special needs community as well as in communities that struggle with a lack of financial resources. The goal of Open Door Sports is to bridge this gap in access by coming to the kids and providing excellent sports programming in their local schools and communities. Peer buddy volunteers work with the players each week to help them find success on the field in an inclusive and encouraging team environment and the friendships that develop on and off the field are spectacular. Simply put, ODS exists so all children can play.
