The Arkansas Foodbank is the state's largest non-governmental provider of emergency food aid. Its headquarters are an award-winning 73,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Little Rock, with a branch in Warren and agency services in Arkadelphia. The Foodbank operates a distribution hub for 450 partner agencies in 33 counties in Central and Southern Arkansas. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, youth programs, senior centers, schools, colleges, and emergency shelters. Of the 280,000 clients we serve, 33% are children under 18 and 11% are seniors over age 60. We distribute enough food for 57,000 meals a day and 2.1 millions visits a year. Arkansas is ranked as one of the highest food insecure states. We rank the worst with the amount of seniors with food insecurity and rank third in the country with the most people facing severe hunger. Overall, 1 in 5 people in our state do not know where their next meal is coming from. The rate for individuals in our service area are food insecure; 86,900 of which are children. Nothing can measure what it means to help everyday people take control of their lives. For these individuals, hope is a hot meal, a bag of groceries, a well nourished child.
