For nearly 40 years, Gateway to Learning has been providing the highest quality of service to families and their loved ones with intellectual disabilities. Located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago, our non-profit developmental training center currently serves more than 75 adults with special needs. In June of 2013, Gateway launched an exciting new workforce training program and retail bakery called Dorothy's Can-Do Cafe. The cafe is open to the public, and allows our members to interact with members of the community while learning important job and social skills. Gateway to Learning would love to implement more new programs to benefit our individuals with disabilities--however, with 96% of our funding coming from the State of Illinois, we often struggle to keep our doors open each year during budget season, when payments are typically delayed.
