Founded in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1964, HopeWell is responsible for creating the first community-based residential program for boys in MA. In the 1970's, the agency became involved in foster care by establishing specialized foster homes to provide long-term placement & treatment for children. At the request of the MA Dept. of Children and Families, the agency began to recruit and train families who could take into their homes children who would otherwise spend their young lives in traditional group care facilities or orphanages. Today, HopeWell provides a variety of programs to individuals and families throughout MA and in the Hartford, CT area including intensive foster care, residential services for adults with disabilities, family support and stabilization, pregnant and parenting teens, and, its newest project, My First Place designed to support youth who have aged out of foster care. Within Boston, HopeWell has offices in Boston, Roxbury, Dorchester, Brookline and Somerville.
