Since its organization in 1964, Lakeside Community Committee has served as an important social service and economic anchor. For over four decades, Lakeside has provided the community with a broad spectrum of children and family oriented programs and services.

Lakeside's main office, which is located within the heart of the Greater Grand Crossing community, is highly sensitive to the community's social, economic conditions and needs. Our professional staff is uniquely qualified to provide viable solutions for quality child care. Lakeside is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Family and Children, Inc.

Lakeside Community Committee offers the following programs and services:

Traditional/Relative Foster Care is designed to enable qualified community residents to provide high quality foster care services to needy children. Adoptive Families assist children in achieving permanency in a child's life. The adoption program provides the child with a more secure future with a stable family. Teens in Pregnant and Parenting is a collaboration of Uhlich Children's Home, private child welfare agencies, DCFS, and other community resources to provide enhanced services to pregnant and parenting wards of the State of Illinois. Extended Family Support provides services to relative care givers who need assistance with obtaining guardianship, opening "Child Only" grants with DHS, referral for counseling, emergency cash assistance, and intensive case management. Licensing, Recruitment & Training provides families with the opportunity to be trained and licensed by the State of Illinois as a licensed foster parent. Cooperative Transitional Living provides three residential facilities designed to teach independent living skills for pregnant and parenting girls between 15 - 21. Addiction & Prevention provides tutoring and anti-drug programming for children 9 to 14. Family Centered Service provides services to at- risk families to keep them intact.  Preventative services surrounding educational issues, housing issues, counseling, housekeeping skills, etc.
