MS is not only physically crippling, it is financially paralyzing for most. MS is an expensive disease with a yearly estimated cost of $70,000. MS is as unpredictable as the weather. As a result of the uncertainty of flare-ups & how long they will last, many people with MS are unable to work for long periods of time. In many instances an individual is no longer able to return to work placing a financial hardship on their families while they deal with the process of applying for Social Security disability insurance which can take years and/or never be approved.
