The National Psoriasis Foundation’s mission, simply put, is to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, through research, advocacy and education programs.  Psoriasis is the most common, chronic, autoimmune disease in the US, with 7.5 million Americans estimated to be living with this devastating disease.  Furthermore, 30% of those with psoriasis will also develop psoriatic arthritis, a degenerative and debilitating joint disease.  Psoriasis is much more than just skin deep.  While the disease appears on the skin, new research has shown people with psoriasis have an increased risk of developing co-morbid conditions like heart disease, diabetes, depression and obesity.  And many people suffer from emotional and social side effects everyday, like discrimination, embarrassment and isolation, keeping them from living normal, healthy lives.

The NPF works tirelessly to fund emerging research to accelerate pathways to a cure.  The organization has also introduced the first psoriasis specific legislation into Congress and advocates locally and nationally on behalf of all those living with psoriatic disease.  The NPF works on the ground level in communities across the country facilitating education and outreach programs for both those living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and the medical professionals that care for them.
