The Open Door Clinic (ODC) is a non-profit organization and the primary HIV/AIDS service agency for the far western suburbs of Chicago.  Established in 1975, ODC initially provided sexually transmitted disease (STD) services to the Fox Valley areas of Elgin and Aurora. In 1986, Open Door was one of the first providers in Illinois to offer HIV testing and one of the first to have a positive test.  Open Door Clinic implemented a Case Management Program in 1989.  In 1990, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago approached Open Door Clinic seeking a west suburban organization to provide home services through the Department of Rehabilitation Services. In January 1993, Open Door Clinic began providing medical care for persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHIV/AIDS).  Currently, ODC provides clinical care for 483 PWHIV/AIDS. Open Door Clinic also provides a Back To School Program and Christmas Wishes for our 102 children affected by HIV/AIDS.

The Open Door Clinic has locations in Elgin and Aurora, IL.  The area served encompasses most of Northeastern Illinois including Kane, DeKalb, Will, McHenry, and Kendall counties and the Northwestern suburbs of Cook County to include Palatine, Arlington Heights, and Schaumburg.  Additional services in the Northwestern Cook County will also target Streamwood, Hanover Park, Bartlett, and Hoffman Estates.  These counties represent three of the top six in reported cases of HIV/AIDS in the State of Illinois.
