Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is an insidious, life-threatening disease most often characterized by high pressures in the arteries of the lungs which ultimately contribute to right heart failure.  Sadly, although the onset of the increasingly debilitating effects of PH may sometimes be slowed, they can never be fully reversed.  PH is often initially misdiagnosed in adults and children alike as common asthma or seasonal allergies, with the additional side effects of fatigue and shortness of breath.  All the while, PH continues to damage and ultimately destroy lung function; more often than not, the only truly life-extending procedure is a successful double-lung or heart/lung transplant.

Our Chapter is designed to raise money to find a cure for PH through expanding clinical research at a growing number of regional university hospitals, including Stanford University and UCSF.  In addition, a portion of the proceeds will be used to fund patient education programs throughout the Bay Area and expand our growing network of PH support groups.
